Noisy Lifters,
Subaru OHC 1.8 Litre Engines

Many technicians are replacing the oil pump to correct noisy lifters on Subaru engines with 1.8 Liter O.H.C. This will cure the problem but the oil pump o-rings are all that have to be replaced. These o-rings become flattened, allowing air into the oil pump. This will cause the lifters to become noisy. BWC offers an oil pump installation kit that contains everything you need to correct this problem. Part number 039-6320 contains the o-rings and the seal necessary to do the job. Remember to always change the oil when doing this.
