1997-98 Saturn - Repeated Dead Battery

Before you go into orbit over a 1997-98 Saturn with repeated dead batteries or an apparently bad alternator (Bosch p/n AL8596X), check to see if during periods of high humidity, rain, or just after having the car washed, the dome lamps or dash lights remain on. If so, the front door jamb switches for the dome lamps may be getting moisture inside the switch creating a short between the switch contacts. If this is the case, the switch or switches will need to be replaced by gently pulling the switch out of the pillar. (Take care not to chafe the wires when pulling the switch out.)
